Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

Hi,

Don't really know whar the deal is with the magazine as it's temporarily unavailable, but as I understand it the following link will take you to a mixtape put together by Ariel.

Predictably ethnic from the little I've listened to; quite nice though. Given what he did with Reminiscences I suppose it's not out of the question you could hear one of these chunes reworked by the band in the future...

Cheers

ps Oh the link

The ninth song is actually called "Kill the Cobra" and is a cover of an unknown sixties psych band, Bentley Road. I found the original on a 60's psych comp called Voyages.

It blew my mind that Mixtape, liked the R'n'B-ish stuff reminded me of Ariel quite alot. Along with the obscure lyrics in some of the songs, the second song is great - that sublime frequencies release, from Folk And Pop Sounds Of Sumatra Vol. 1. You guys should give it a listen if you havent heard it.

Been listening to that Warfield Spillers song for a few years now since I heard this mix tape, can't get over how good it is. Probably the best rhythm guitar I've ever heard, on a par with Lou Reed's live in 69 with the Velvets.
