Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about how Ariel got the background string section sound on songs like good kids make bad grown ups and for kate I wait. Another example is the chorus of the original I wanna be young. Is it just a keyboard setting? If so which one and which keyboard? Thank you for your help.

I mean, a lot of late 90's/early 2000s student keyboards will do the trick. Like the ones with a million presets and drum tracks, I used to use an oldish Yamaha student keyboard to get that sound. Idk any names but something not too modern but not too old will do cus a lot of those keyboards from that era have a pretty decent strings setting for this. Currently, I use a microkorg XL set to tApe strings (it's a mellotron setting) and that works wonders for me.

Also if you own a mircokorg there's a strings setting in there. It's Hip Hop/vintage setting 8 Bank A
