I found a vinyl rip of the album and the Non-Sequitur Segues tracks in 24bit hi res if anyone has a Turbobit or UploadGIG account.

As for first impressons of the LP, it's Ok i guess. Stand out tracks are Do Yourself A Favour, Feel's Like heaven, I Wanna Be Young and of course Revenge Of The Iceman (just for the vocal performance) Worst part for me is the "Party till the break of dawn" section in Acting, cringeworthy.

You can hear the difference in songwriting quality from old style Ariel to modern day by comparing I Wanna Be Young with something like Dreamdate Narcissist, complete night and day. The former is a brilliantly off kilter song with amazingly inventive and unorthodox chord changes, the latter a poor 60's pastiche that must have taken 5 minutes to write. I much prefer 80's Ariel to 60's Ariel.

Someone says there's a CD rip after bonus tracks doing the rounds (on Redacted whatever that is). Anyone have it?

All the outtakes/bonus tracks from these sessions (Ode, Iceman + NSS EP) are all worthy of being on the album.

I'd go as far as to say I could easy replace five songs off the standard album with the five aforementioned tracks (excluding the instrumental) and it would be even better.

I think that's a fair criticism. Those early tapes and songs were a strange and wonderful thing made possible by a perfect mix of obsession, youth, naïveté, technical limitations, and lucky accidents. His newer recordings are on a different level, certainly. Still, I think the latest work has done a great job of recapturing the homemade vibe of the early stuff, if not all the compositional brilliance (chord changes, strange shifts). In fact, I think pom pom might have tried a hair too hard to reinstate the "weird" (though I love that album too), and this one feels more natural and unforced.

Got mine today! This is the best Ariel record in a long time. I think AP and JM are at the top of their game right now. Rumor has it the next album they do will be together.
