Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

in another thread, pinkspoons suggested a "covered by ariel" album entitled "under the covers." I've recently started making tapes and started a TINY tape label, and what better way to honor ariel than by putting out a bootleg covers cassette? my question is would anyone be interested in one? I'm thinking of ordering special colored tapes, plus all the artwork will be professionally printed, so the tapes will probably cost a few bucks each just to cover production costs (maybe $4?) plus around $5 shipping in North America (shipping FROM the US to Canada costs an arm and a leg, but from Canada TO the US is still cheap).

so here's the tracklist I got so far.

1. she's gone (dovers)
2. i love her still, and always will (outsiders)
3. unwritten law (sound)
4. birds in my tree (strawberry alarm clock)
5. this night has opened my eyes (smiths)
6. baby (donnie & joe emerson)
7. ariel (dean friedman)
8. hobbies galore (r stevie moore)
9. facts of destiny (centimeters)
10. see the girl (psychopaths)
11. my cutie (shaggs)
12. everybody (madonna)
13. shedontknowwhattodowithherself (r stevie moore)
14. bright lit blue skies (rockin ramrods)
15. crusades (godz)
16. rama ya (afric simone)
17. moya (southern death cult)
18. light my fire (doors)
19. damage done (sisters of mercy)
20. ashes to ashes (david bowie)
21. reminiscences (yeshimebet dubale)
22. steviestorm (harry merry)
23. calm me down (live) (human expression)
24. an appeal from heaven (freddy k & the breeze) (by the way does anyone have an mp3 of the original? downloaded it a long time ago, lost it and can't find it)
25. no zipper (r stevie moore)
26. come my way (r stevie moore)

thanks to everyone who contributed to that old "covered by ariel pink" thread. did I miss anything? I don't think I'll include tracks that aren't straight cover songs, like oceans of weep. the tracklist is long enough, and I don't even know if it will fit on a cassette.

there's this holy shit cover of the marine girls' "a place in the sun" but ariel probably had nothing to do with the song.

and then there's the holy grail, the cover of felt's "a wave crashed on rocks" (alternately titled "ruined it all") that may or may not exist. does anyone have that mp3? *cough adri or possibly dean or jessi cough*

What the wat de what the What!? :delaware:
I love felt and I've heard matt's cover of the final resting of the ark, and the live cover of my darkest light will shine, both are very, very good!!, but a cover of a wave crased on rocks!? oh my shit, I can't even imagine how good that would be!! one of my favorite (of many..) felt chunes!

So, any progress in the search of it's existence? :sneaky:

You could add songs from the thing Ariel did with Ash Rah Temple. I’m pretty sure all the songs they played were covers/improv jams based on the originals.

Wow, I forgot about that Earth & Fire clip. Been a huge fan of that band for a long time. They’re so obscure in the US that it’s always a surprise when I hear some outside reference to them.
