I can't wait!! Im so excited to hear this "other side of Ariel Pink." It would be so perfect if there will be actual songs, and then more weird background music, which i imagine would probably be very atmospheric and emotion-based, don't you guys think?? I think he will do so well with this.
I agree with you about the emotion-based but I am curious as to your thought process? What makes you think so??
Well, I was just thinking about some of the more experimental and ambient songs that Ariel has done, like Foiley Foibles, or Nostradamus. I think he's really good at that kind of stuff, but he doesn't really do much of that on his albums. Then I started daydreaming about what it would be like if he was allowed to do some traditional OST pieces in addition to the werewolf hit singles. You know, like the kind of synth motifs and sound fx that you find in sci-fi, horror and fantasy films from the 70's and 80's. -I remember reading that he's a huge fan of those kinds of movies, so.
I mean, just think about some of his more ethereal, soundtrack-sounding influences: Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Krautrock in general, I think. Olivier Messiaen, Throbbing Gristle, you get the picture.
