Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

Cool. I'm a big fan of that Italo disco stuff re: Chromatics, Desire, Glass Candy, et al.

THIS. I'm afraid the actual Fulci film will be a letdown after hearing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzYDqUUc ... ure=fvwrel

I am listening to the shimmering, gorgeous, blissfully forlorn sounds of Wild Nothing's Gemini album. It makes me feel a restless agonising longing to fucking DO something creative but paired with a crushingly defeatist knowledge that anything I make will look/sound/read like a turd in comparison. So I have to just listen to it intently and stare into the distance.
Come and visit, see them for free with me on the 9th! :dancparty:

I saw them open for Beach House a few weeks back. I liked them much better live than I did when I first heard their album.

I was smitten instantly when I first played the record.

I cannot stop playing "Loverboy." I'm sure the upstairs neighbours love me at the moment but I can't help myself. Play this song for me right now and I'm anybody's.

Freak Out and We're Only In it for the Money are the ones I started off with. I adore WOIIFTM. It's so funny and memorable! That album dissected the whole late 60s hippy culture in such a satisfying and masterful way. We need commentary on our current artistic/cultural state. I think Ariel and John do this in their own way, just not so blatantly. I can see so many parallels with Zappa and Ariel though, musically speaking.
If you listen to WOIIFTM and you like it, please let me know!!!

The 'your fave albums' thread made me put this on for the first time in an age. Still wonderful.
