Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

How many of you here are James Ferraro fans? I'm assuming there's a huge overlap between John Maus and Ferraro fans. James Ferraro is such a prolific and unique musician that has tons of material worth analyzing and discussing, but there isn't really any central organized community for discussing his work.

My favorite Ferraro album is probably On Air. Night Dolls With Hairspray might be most enjoyable to Maus fans.

I've just discovered that he soundtracked a french art film called Mercuriales that came out in 2014. This was news to me and I don't think many ferraro fans even know about it.

So what's your favorite Ferraro album? most underrated? general thoughts?

p.s. idk how many of you use discord but here's a link to a discord server focused around James Ferraro if any of you are interested. It'd be a great way to have listening parties to his discography and such.

I just discovered Ferraro a couple of weeks ago and I’m hooked. He appeals not only to my Maus/Pink side but my Stockhausen/abstract side. Dude’s amazing.

I love pretty much everything I’ve heard, which is saying a lot since I’ve listened to over 30 albums so far. But this here is a pop classic worthy of Ariel P himself. It’s on the album “On Air”, which is one of the better overall albums I’ve heard. Not a lot of his albums are very song- oriented, which could be a barrier for some. But “On Air” and “Night Dolls in Hairspray” are both fairly song-oriented (and plenty weird).

Here’s “Cinderella”, a glam rock classic waiting to be discovered.

Here’s one i really like from Night Dolls, “Leather High School”

Thanks guys for turning me on to James, I'd never heard of him before but after just a few minutes listening to his stuff on Youtube I can tell he's definitely an artist with a catalogue I need to delve in to.

This is beautiful
