Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

I asked John about music after the Blackpool show, and I had never heard of this person, but Adri had, and she found this link:

It should be posted here. I'm just listening now, and on "The price of freedom" the music in the background could be for a John Maus song. Check it out! :victory:

Yes, he featured her version of "Major Tom" on his Maus Mix for Rough Trade last year. Hers is definitely comparable to Peter Schilling's original!

Space Lady > Peter Schilling
Agreed
you can buy her collection on itunes too. I like her version of I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)...but the Electric Prunes do it well...naturally 8D

It has just been announced that Night School Records will be releasing a Space Lady retrospective this autumn. Previously it was only her live recordings that were available. I'm really excited!
Maus Mix is mentioned in the article, too.

She's SO great!

My favorites are: Major Tom, Fly Like an Eagle, I Had Too Much To Dream Last night, and Born To Be Wild

"Synthesize Me" is probably my ultimate favorite that she does. There is something so otherworldly and sweet in her vocals that consoles and spooks me at the same time. It all has that great 'recorded in a tin can' vibe that adds to the mystery, too. I don't want to say it's charming because that trivialises it, but I just think she truly lives in her own wonderful world. Does anyone know the actual release date for this? I looked at the Night School site and couldn't find any information.

I believe the official release date for 'Synthesize Me' was 1990, as best' I can tell. Here's my source: http://www.freedb.org/freedb_search.php ... ace%20Lady

And It looks like 'Synthesize Me' is one of her original compositions; along with the other first three songs, they're attributed to her husband at the time, Joel Dunsany.

Here's an interesting interview that she's given, and it also has a link to a free EP at the end, which contains four originals!

-- Yea, It's Hi-Fi Space Lady, and a little less effected, but I still really like it! Like, the great vocals are still there, and her composition style hasn't changed much. Plus, I've only ever had her main album, so this is quite a pleasant surprise. And apparently she's got other new releases too.
