Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

Does anyone else listen to Light Asylum???

You can tell that they are students of electronic music, and that they really know it's history, composition styles, tones, etc. The vocals really stand out to me too, her singing has a real violence and character to it, and she does a lot of different styles, which I like.

I wish their lyrics were a little better, but I do admire their courage for making them so clear and discernible.

I prefer their debut EP(2010) over their first LP(2012), i think it packs a lot more punch than the full length, and the songs have more of a 'song' feel to them, as opposed to their full length, which has some interesting music and vocals in it's own right, but the songs don't feel like songs, i.e., just vocals added over instrumentals. I also think that they made the music on their LP a little too sparse and open, when compared to the EP.

Two of my favorite songs by them are:

'A Certain Person' --http://youtu.be/Z9Gajm69Mps

'Knights and Weekends' --http://youtu.be/2Yl0A_pVV44
