Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

Thought I'd butt in:
If programming is too frustrating/distracting, you could play the pads manually as you record. Like kick/snare on one track and cymbals on another etc. Thing is the touch sensitivity on the Alesis machines sucks, but you could use the preset levels in the Record Setup. Errr, I'm talking about the SR-16, not the HR-16, so this may not apply...

Been reading a lot of great tips on how to get a good John Maus -type lo-fi sound with recording at home from this forum, but this is my first time actually posting here. Here's the first EP from a solo project I did with heavy influence from John Maus, please let me know what you think:

https://soundcloud.com/cheungexpress/se ... em-witches

All tips will be highly appreciated. The EP is done with a Rode NT-1, Logic X and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo.

Standing by. Looking forward to it App!

Also I wrote a new song tonight for Rare Goat to try (no title yet). I've had a lot of unfinished songs that I haven't seen through to completion, I hope this one will halt that trend. My bandmates are far outpacing me on contributing material. I'm getting some good experience concentrating on lead guitar though.

László Hortobágyi, Iasos, Dzeltenie Pastnieki, and Bernard Fevre were my inspirations for the recent music
it's all made through my synthesizer, no drums, no guitar
pretty far out, kinda want this imploded world music sound
I gotta get some tracks on to my laptop to edit
One track for sure is called TMI: Refuckingvisited
which sounds awfully apocalyptic but has a buoyant melody
hahah I even got an album cover ready!
one of the few photos of me as a kid in one of my favorite places: a rocking chair
