Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

here's harry!

I just finished watching the shining again.

I then watched room 237 which hypothesizes subtexts within the film.
some seen plausible, others ridiculous.

Saw Lucky last night. It was funny, poignant, true. Such a perfect curtain call for Harry Dean Stanton.

IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam) runs for 2 weeks every year, it's the biggest and best documentary film festival in the world... I've lined up 8 films this year, and it's been an emotional rollercoaster.

This is a must watch: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt7240516/
Trailer here: https://vimeo.com/242714424

After the film, the director and a number of others took to the stage to answer questions from the audience. After a number of questions, one person said, "It's great that you are here... but where is Edith? How is she?"... the director said, "You can ask her"... and Edith was beckoned from the crowd.

Needless to say, I was destroyed. Powerful movie, only made more powerful by the fact that the 'star' was able to be there.

Man, the Liquid Sky restoration is my favorite Blu-ray release of the year
can't wait to watch the extras!
Also picked up Kedi, The Last Laugh, The Violent Years - good stuff
also revisiting PT Anderson movies
Boogie Nights was my favorite movie junior year in high school and man does that movie hold up. Hoping Phantom Thread is better than the last two PTA movies.

Thanks for this thread lots to look at.

Best things i saw this year

Mad Max Fury Road in Black and White, still amazing, like having your eyeballs injected with starch and skittles, his voice made me laugh a lot too.
Gulag documentary
Day of the Outlaw
The Longest Yard
Mrs Miniver
The first half of The Tenant before it went basic mad.
Dont Torture a Duckling
Bladerunner 2049 no idea what happened just sort of enjoying staring at it.
Corruption ( most bizarre gang in a film)
Lawrence of Belgravia
Battling Butler ( the best training sequence ive seen since Rocky 4)
Twin Peaks tv series ( Laura Dern exploding etc etc)
The Caves of Androzani
Four Nights of a Dreamer
The Positive Negative Man
Per Aspera Ad Astra
The Great War tv series
The Legend of Hell House
White of the Eye
Silence ( i wish the english speaking actors were as unknown to me as the Japanese speaking actors, i mean, it had Spiderman in it and Darkman too.)
Touchdown/Counterstrike.!!
Countdown.
