Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

i was thinking today, and taking an inventory of my favorite Ariel lyrics, and i was surprised to realize that this is probably my favorite, because, i just find this song to be very encouraging and inspiring. -having said that, i realize that it's certainly not his most crafty or skillful lyric, and also, the music would never make my fav Ariel list.

-i always wonder if this was written around a time when him and John lived together? i remember reading a really old interview w Ariel, and he was talking about 'not being negative, only positive,' which really stood out to me against the usual tone of his interviews, and also against the tone of a lot of John Maus' really old writing that can be found online from when they went to school together -a lot of it seemed very critical, and also very intimidating or harsh or whatever(I wonder what brought about such an awesome shift, you know? he's such an inspiring human being. .)

idk, i just wonder if this lyric captured a cool time in Ariel's life when he was feeling very positive and inspired. like, it's reminiscent of John's interview when he talks about how he and Ariel would make songs each week and show them to each other. like you know, the classic "sharing our tapes with one another" quote, because it seems to possess some of that same raw energy. -idk, do u guys have any thoughts about this lyric? am i just full of bs?

"Now is the time at hand
Time to take a stand
Everyone collaborate
Together now, celebrate

Make that music, everyone by everyone
Round and round, share the sounds
All who down, trade the part
It don't matter, it's a start

Do something interesting
Say it, it don't matter what
Just say something, bust a nut

Who is there? It must be
Jagged, jagged, jagged, jagged
Jagged, jagged, jagged, jagged

She just keeps alive and she's burning
Ooh, she looked good in makeup
Oh, I just keep thinking and thinking
Oh, jagged, jagged, oh, jagged, jagged, oh

My uniform, get out and fight
My uniform, get out and fight
My uniform, get out and fight
Get out and fight
My uniform, get out and fight
My uniform, get out and fight

Jagged, jagged, jagged, jagged
Jagged, jagged, jagged, jagged
Jagged, jagged, jagged, jagged
Jagged, jagged"

--I've been working on a collage of some of my fav inspiring/idealist pop lyrics, and something from this lyric will definitely make the cut
